There's something in the air tonight. Every driver in Virginia is nucking futs today. I don't think I've ever had one trip -- especially one six miles long round trip -- where I saw more inconsiderate, rude people doing clueless things in automobiles. Normally I can deal with one event, but this evening we had:
-- One clueless lady sitting in her car after the turn light was green who didn't start moving until it turned yellow, causing everyone behind her to miss the light.
-- Three separate occasions of people going the wrong way down a one way street or parking row. Sometimes this was coupled with stopping to let people out.
-- A guy detailing his tires while lying down in the exit ramp of my apartment complex, to get "just that right angle". He had the car where you're supposed to put it when you're washing it, but HE was extended into the narrow one-lane exit ramp.
-- One lady blocking the driveway of exit ramp of my apartment complex waiting for someone and yakking away on the phone.
-- Approximately one zillion people parked too close to the parking lot lines, cutting off access to the space next to them
--And the only one I'm not angry about as the behavior of these drivers redeems most of the others -- a loose doggie running around in the middle of a six-lane divided highway. Everyone stopped -- traffic backed up for quite a ways, while another nice man tried to get the doggie out of the street. Doggie didn't play that, and ran across the other side of the highway and went down a sidestreet -- thankfully so far unhurt. Poor doggie.
Full moon Thursday? Oh yeah, and Paul Carrack doing "Loving You Tonight" in the muzak at Hechts. I hope the guys are getting a cut, at least.
