It's Official -- Acid is Good For Your Health

In a blow to the anti-drug campaign, the creator of LSD died today at the age of 102. I met Timothy Leary once, too. While he was nuttier than a loon (he believed that no one should learn to read and everything should be done by video and TV, which is prescient, but not desirable, as this means the ones who could read and program would rule the rest of the world), he was beautifully preserved.

(An aside -- while putting in the tags, I mistyped LSD as 'LDS'. Maybe that's the secret of the Mormons)

Leary sure nailed the near future didn't he? Basically no one can read now and everything is done by video over the internet and TV.

My favorite example of how dumb we are is the cash register at a fast food joint. They used to be normal machines to give change. Pushing the correct numbers proved way too difficult so they replaced them with burger buttons. Order a hamburger and you hit the hamburger button. Fries have a button too and so on.

They say it takes all kinds to make the world but I'm not sure that's true in Leary's case.

HHAAHAHAHAHAHAH - we just had that conversation at work. 102! And half of those were probably VERY interesting years!
